Ever since I was a little girl I remember my Mom always having a flower garden. She always had a beautiful selection of roses. What I loved about my Moms rose garden is she could always remember every roses name. Then whenever we had company, she would cut her roses and have them displayed in cute bud vases. Even the bathroom got a small bouquet. I loved that and as a little girl, I knew I would grow up and grow my own roses. I unfortunately am terrible with names so I needed a trick to remember my roses names.
When you purchase a rose, each one comes with its own tag, telling you its name. So, I went to Goodwill and bought butter knives for super cheap. I bought 10 for $1, each one is different, that’s what I loved about them. Then I went to Fred Meyer and bought indoor/outdoor glue, then I just glued the tag to the knife and BOOM…every one of my roses has a name, and if I forget, my rose tag reminds me.
My personal favorite Rose is “Walking on Sunshine” it was my most expensive Rose I bought, it blooms perfect yellow flowers. I bought it at “The Yellow Rose” a beautiful nursery in Prosser, WA. (www.yellowrosenursery.com) All their flowers are so healthy and worth the extra money. I also thought it was fitting to buy a yellow rose from the Yellow Rose, even though my favorite color is Pink. This yellow does not disappoint, each summer it makes me smile.
For a pink fragrant rose, I love the “Perfume Delight” on the tag it says, “If you can dig a hole you can plant a star.” It’s so true, anyone can dig a hole, so let’s get to planting and take time to smell our roses we grow and cut them and share the love in every room in our house. After all, it’s the little things in life that makes us smile.
